Burair Al Lawati
Burair I Al Lawati is an executive leader with over 12 years of experience gained in multinational organizations. Burair is currently the GM - Strategy & Energy Transition and a member of the Exectuitve Management Team at Shell Oman Marketing Company SAOG (SOM). Burair is also a Media Spokesperson for SOM.
Burair joined Shell in 2013 as part of the HR & Services team, where he dealt with employee relations, administration and real estate. Later in the same year, he moved to External Affairs (now known as Corporate Relations) where he supported SOM in various roles and capacities which varied from managing Corporate Communications, External/Government/Investor/Media Relations, Social Investment, In-Country Value all the way to leading Marketing, Business Development and Reputation & Crisis Management.
During his tenure in Shell, Burair has been key in reinforcing SOM’s reputation, license to operate, and transforming its corporate communications. Burair has been influential in shaping the Oman Shell Energy Transition Framework, as a member in the Energy Transition Committee in Oman Shell. He has been instrumental in developing the downstream Energy Transition narrative in SOM and driving Powering Progress agenda in SOM. Burair led efforts and strategies for early introduction of energy transition related projects such as Shell Eco-marathon, Shell Ideas360, Solar into Stations, Vapor Recovery System and others. Burair is credited with leading the efforts in the introduction of social and digital media strategies and practices in SOM while developing skills and capabilities of marketing and communications focal points.
Prior to joining Shell, with a burning passion for charitable work backed by his academic qualifications in Health Science, Burair worked as an Early Intervention Specialist in the Oman Early Intervention Association and other early intervention and rehabilitation charity centers in New Zealand.
Burair Al Lawati holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and a Post Grad Diploma in Health Science (Majoring in Early Intervention) from Canterbury University in New Zealand. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, reading about economics and modern history, and developed a passion for horology.
